On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, the Cabinet Secretariat, Office of Healthcare Policy hosted the India-Japan Public-Private Conference on Healthcare (hybrid method) with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the field of healthcare with India, a signatory to the Asian Health and Wellbeing Initiative (AHWIN) and a partner country of the Global Health Strategy.
At the beginning of the conference, Naoki Ito, Deputy Director General of the Health and Medical Strategy Office, said online, "At this conference, we will consider the possibility of collaboration between Japan and India for the future by setting up five areas of cooperation: "Digital Health," "Critical Care and Emergency," "Supply Chain," "MCMs," and "NCDs," introducing the efforts of Japan companies, and discussing specific solutions to issues in the medical field in India." A greeting was given.
In addition, Mr. Lav Agarwal, Director General of the International Directorate, Ministry of Health, India, said, "The G20 and G7 involve Japan and India, respectively, and that the two countries have the health sector as a priority area for discussion, and that it is important for the two governments to align their objectives, and that in private-sector activities, medical devices and healthcare analysis through collaboration between Japanese and Indian startups, The field of digital health solutions is an area where we can collaborate in the future, and we hope to improve medical care and improve access to high-quality medical care in the future."
At the conference, eight Japan companies (NEC Corporation, Vitaars Co., Ltd. (formerly T-ICU), Konoike Medical Co., Ltd., Redge,Inc., Innovation thru Energy Co., Ltd., Fujifilm Corporation, Instalim, Inc., Olympus Corporation) introduced their products and services in five cooperative fields with a view to solving health issues in India. A lively exchange of views was held on India's health issues and measures to solve them.
A total of 75 people attended the event, including government agencies from Japan and India, international organizations, medical institutions, and related companies.
